It’s my belief that Christians who do the most for this world are the ones who think the most about the next. And, the ones who don’t think about the next world are more ineffective in this one. That being said, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking of new approaches to MLC’s contemporary music. I’ve got a great group of people to work with and am coming up with new ideas for our service. Sometimes they’re a surprise to me because often times my ideas come out when I’m not even thinking about them. That’s why God gave us pencils and paper.
Gratitude was the theme for our June 13th service. I’ve been searching the bible for any words from Jesus or his apostles regarding the word gratitude. I haven’t found anything in there that says gratitude should be kept to ourselves. My point is, I think as Lutherans we often don’t express our thoughts or actions when we’re in church because we have to sshhh, WE’RE IN CHURCH! Church should be a joyous time.
If you like the music, showing a sign of appreciation or gratitude isn’t out of place and it means a lot to the people making it. If you don’t like a song, booing would probably be out of place. Our goal in the contemporary service is to use music to bring others to Christ and we are all about praising Him. It’s our show of GRATITUDE. Let’s all keep sharing our gratitude. It’s another reason He put us here.
