Highlights from the Council Meeting
June 17, 2010

Opening:  We welcomed Cathy Maes to her first council meeting and celebrated her birthday.

Devotions:  Pastor Bob led a devotion from Psalm 100 “Make a joyful noise…” and then asked us each about the latest celebration in our lives. 

Growing The Kingdom of God Campaign Update:  We are planning to ask GTKOG contributors to do temple talks.

Pastor Bob Rusert:  Pastor Bob presented a written report.  We discussed the need to attend to securing leadership of the senior choir expediently. 

Pastor Paul Clark:  Pastor Bob reported for Pastor Paul that VBS plans are underway.  The summer mission trip is being revamped because several kids pulled out of the scheduled Colorado trip because of a “better offer” that came up during the middle of the trip.  A shorter Minnesota-based trip is being planned to allow the kids to still attend. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Tim Staffanson reported that we ended May with a surplus, but still have a shortfall for the year of $17,723.64, including GTKOG revenues so far of $22,617.  We are not gasping for air yet, but we need to raise up new stewards. 

VBS:  Vacation Bible School is scheduled for August 2-5.  It will be intergenerational and will include service projects as a way of reconnecting with our mission partners.  We all need to help out in any way we can.
