Highlights from the Annual Congregational Meeting    January 24, 2010

Members in attendance:  52

Senior Pastor’s Report:  Pastor Bob Rusert thanked everyone in the room and considers everyone a treasured partner.  We have much to celebrate this past year in signs of life and love.  He gave thanks for several individuals and the council, saying it has worked in unity toward the future of MLC and has demonstrated its love for you as a congregation.

Associate Pastor’s Report:  Pastor Paul Clark gave thanks to many people who have helped make a wonderful transition this past year.  A five-pronged Youth Ministry Team is being set up – worship, service, education, social events, camping ministry.  We have people stepping up ready to take leadership roles.  He is excited to be here and has been welcomed warmly.

Treasurer’s Report:  Tim Staffanson reported in 2009, we had revenues of $425,751.08, including Moving Forward/Meeting Commitments fund drive.  Expenses for 2009 were $408,779.66.  After paying back the 2008 deficit of $33,000 we ended 2009 with a deficit of $16,000.

Ratification of Bylaws and Constitution:  The congregation ratified the changes to the governance structure of the Constitution and Bylaws of Minnetonka Lutheran Church as presented to and voted in favor of by the congregation at the January 25, 2009 annual meeting, now making said changes permanent.

2010 Budget:  The congregation approved a budget of $440,000 for 2010.  2010 projected revenue are $395,000 and projected expenses are $440,000, resulting in a $45,000 deficit.  There was an excellent response to Stewardship campaign with large increases in pledges from many members.  In 2010, there will be increases from 2009 for some ministry teams, benefits, music staff, and a cost of living increases for staff.

Ministry Fund Drive:  Gary Schmidt stated that good things are happening at MLC and the council believes the future deficit problem is best solved as a three-year campaign.  The congregation approved conducting a three-year Ministry Funding Campaign to raise $210,000 in order to fund various ministries at MLC during 2010 through 2012.  The campaign would be conducted within the first quarter of 2010

Nominating Committee:  The congregation elected Stuart Deuring, Sue Hlavac, Troy Knoploh and Pastor Bob Rusert to the nominating committee for the term of May 2010 to May 2011.

Audit Committee: The congregation elected Scott Grossman, Scott Smith, and Daryl Soeder to the audit committee to audit the financial books and records of MLC for 2009.
